You managed to found and build up statehood through the support of the entire nation and, first of all, owing to your unyielding will, superhuman efforts, and enormous sacrifices”, President Sargsyan said in his message, at the occasion of Artsakh Republic Day. “Artsakh has already demonstrated to the world and themselves that they are civilized enough to build a powerful and prosperous statehood”, he added.

It is not yet clear whether Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Yerevan next year to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said on Monday. Nalbandian handed Erdogan a corresponding invitation from President Serzh Sarkisian when he attended the presidential inauguration in Ankara last week.

Armenia's Ambassador to Iraq Karen Grigoryan extended the copies of his credentials to Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari. Minister Zebari wished Ambassador success in his mission and expressed readiness to contribute to the development of bilateral relations. Zebari said Iraq considers Armenia a friendly state and hailed the level of political relations noting potential for development of economic ties.

Authorities in Azerbaijan have confirmed local media reports about an Armenian citizen who crossed the border near the Azeri village of Kamerli on August 26 and was taken prisoner. The man identified as 53-year-old Sargis Ananyan is believed to be a resident of the town of Noyemberyan in Armenia’s northeastern Tavush province. He reportedly went missing about a week ago.

The Presidents visited the Great Partnership Company’s newly opened sewing workshop founded by the Italian “Sartis” brand, which creates more than 450 new jobs.

Turkish-German director Fatih Akın’s recent film “The Cut,” is one of the films competing for the coveted Golden Lion award at the 71st Venice Film Festival. Speaking at the festival after its premiere, Akın said he was "ready for the polemics" that would inevitably follow a film about such a sensitive subject. “There are not many films on the Armenian genocide. This is why this film is necessary ... I have spent seven years of my life preparing for all of the polemics that may be caused by the film. I can say that I have already received threats, but it is worth dying for art,” he said.
