The California State Senate, led by incoming Senate President Pro Tem Kevin De Leon, by an overwhelming majority of votes on Wednesday passed Assembly member Mike Gatto’s resolution, AJR 32, encouraging Artsakh’s (Nagorno Karabakh) continuing efforts to develop as a free and independent nation and formally calling upon the upon the President and Congress of the United States to support the self-determination and democratic independence of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, reported the Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region.

The information which the Azerbaijani media disseminated on Tuesday, and with respect to the capturing of an Armenian citizen, has not been confirmed as of yet.
It turned out that the Azerbaijani newspapers had rushed by stating that an Armenian “saboteur” was caught. Several hours later, the same newspapers portrayed this “saboteur” as an Armenia resident who had “fled from poverty.”

Kazakhstan does not object to Armenia’s membership in the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), the Kazakh ambassador in Yerevan insisted on Wednesday.
“Kazakhstan has a very positive attitude to Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union,” Ayimdos Bozjigitov told RFE/RL’s Armenian service (Azatutyun.am) in an interview. “The president of Kazakhstan signed a roadmap to that membership. So there is no opposition.”

Joint efforts of Armenia and Kazakhstan in the international arena". As reports “Armenpress”, the discussion was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Armenia Aiymdos Bozzhigitov. According to him, thanks to renunciation of nuclear weapons, his country has become a responsible and reliable partner in the international arena.

Armenia should not miss the opportunity to enter the Russian market, member of the Prosperous Armenia parliamentary faction Lyova Khachatryan told reporters on Wednesday.
“We plan to double the agricultural exports to Russia this year and secure our place in that market,” he said, stressing that the Agriculture Ministry should provide loans to farmers at low interest rates so that they can develop the economy.

Artsakh Archbishop dismisses suggested territorial concessions

Head of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Pargev Martirosian, told journalists on Wednesday that he doesn’t believe Artsakh will be completely safe if territorial concessions are made in return for unclear promises.
The Archbishop was responding to a question about possible conflict settlement solutions for Artsakh that include ceding territories.

Azerbaijani Consulate General in Los Angeles has condemned the adoption of an anti-Azerbaijani resolution AJR 32 on Nagorno-Karabakh in the California State Senate.
"The racist anti-Azerbaijani resolution AJR 32 on Nagorno-Karabakh has been on the agenda of the California State Senate for some time. From the very beginning, a number of serious measures were undertaken by the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles to counter the resolution. These measures included, inter alia, sending letters of protest to all senators, holding numerous meetings with them, thus explaining the biasedness and fadedness of the AJR 32, its contradiction to America's stated foreign policy and national interests, as well as the fact that this racist resolution justified ethnic cleansing and illegal occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia," the Consulate General said in its statement made on August 28.

Iran and Armenia are two countries in some form of a blockade. Tehran is suffering from sanctions imposed because of its nuclear program. Communications of Yerevan with Azerbaijan and Turkey are blocked due to the occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani territory in Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts. It seems logical that Tehran and Yerevan try to help each other improve the situation. Iran has recently offered Armenia to form a free trade zone (FTZ). The offer will most likely be accepted. On the other hand, there are some problems. Creation of a FTZ will have to match with Armenia’s joining the Customs Union (CU) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU).
